TTGA -Usine

The Usine Ste Madeleine Golf Course was established around 1900 by the then Ste Madeleine Sugar Company of England. The course was made for the members of the sugar company and was initially a nine hole golf course.

In the early sixties, changes were made to the layout of the course and some of the original holes were changed. This resulted in the formation of a par thirty two for the nine holes. Usine Ste Madeleine Golf Club joined the Trinidad & Tobago Golf Association in the late sixties and continues to be an active member with club members serving as officers of the Association.

In 2002, the course was officially rated by the United States Golf Association and now has a slope rating of one hundred and fourteen. The par for the course was subsequently changed to a par thirty four, nine hole course. The course has three par three holes, five par fours and one par five hole. Membership of the club varied at the beginning from around twenty players to thirty four at present. The club was op 9th hole near the club house ened to non members in the late sixties. Members of Brechin Castle Golf Club have dual membership with Usine Ste Madeleine Golf Club and total membership s around eighty members.

The greens were planted with savannah grass and this has not changed over the years. The committee consists of a Captain, Vice Captain, Secretary/Treasurer, Match Secretary and four committee members. Non Company members can serve on the committee.

The main attraction of the course are the ponds which guard the first and tenth holes and the ninth and eighteenth holes. The course when it was a par thirty two - sixty four for eighteen- was never pared in an official competition.
